Njord is establishing a physical presence in Singapore to better serve its expanding customer base in Asia and address the increasing demand for green technology to boost vessel efficiency.
The move into the maritime hub comes after rapid expansion in Asia, where already today 15 of our clients, as well as strategic partner Mitsui & Co.are based.
"Scaling up our activities in Asia is a strategic move at a crucial time in shipping," says Frederik Pind, Managing Director at Njord. "We’re seeing the beginning of the green transition, which comes with its challenges for shipowners. Despite their interest to invest in green technology, they are facing obstacles in adopting them at speed and scale. By establishing a presence in Singapore, we are closer to shipowners all over Asia and can better support them with their decarbonisation efforts."
Njord's activities in Asia will be headed by Kaushik Seal. A marine engineer by education, Kaushik brings a wealth of insights into shipowners' needs and vessel efficiency from a career spanning more than 35 years in shipping.
Njord has seen rapid growth over the past year, with more than 50 clients spread across the globe and employees based in Copenhagen, Athens, Mumbai and Singapore.
Njord is a green technological business founded by Maersk Tankers, which aims to accelerate cost-effective and industry-wide greenhouse gas reductions. It offers a full-service package, including screening for potential, designing the solution and assisting owners with the installation of energy-saving devices as well as measuring the performance of the technology.
